HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. –Northern Kentucky women's basketball's Kailey Coffey adds her third-straight CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 Team honor to an already impressive list of academic accolades. Coffey, a three-time Horizon League All-Academic Team member, was also recently named to the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) Scholar Athlete Team.
A double major in Chemistry and Biochemistry (Pre-Vet), Coffey sports a perfect 4.0 GPA. She has spent more than 125 hours performing organic chemistry research and approximately 90 hours shadowing veterinarians. In addition to her academic success, she is graduating ranked sixth on NKU's all-time rebounding list with 808 boards and seventh in most starts in program history (110). Over the course of her 111-game career, she averaged 7.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Coffey will continue her academic pursuits upon graduation, as she has accepted an offer to attend Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
To be eligible for nomination for the award, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve and have played in at least 50 percent of a team's contests while sporting a minimum 3.30 GPA.
