NORSE Breakdown
• NKU enters this week on a five-game winning streak after downing Horizon League preseason favorite IUPUI on the road, 54-53.
•
Lindsey Duvall was selected as the of the Nike® Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 27-Jan. 2 after the big win over IUPUI. This is Duvall's second conference Player of the Week award this season and the third overall for the Norse.
• This was the first win at IUPUI during Coach Whitaker's time at NKU, and also the first victory for the Norse at IUPUI since the 1995-96 season.
• Northern Kentucky is off to its best start at 9-3 since the 2015-16 season when the Norse began the year at 8-3 overall as well.
• Duvall posted her seventh 20-plus point game of the season, finishing with 26 vs. IUPUI.
• Duvall kept her double-digit scoring streak alive while in a Norse uniform, totaling 26 points in the win over IUPUI. Her streak of scoring in double-figures with Northern Kentucky is now at 31 straight games.
• Duvall currently ranks second overall in the Horizon League in scoring average with 19.8 points per game. Duvall is first in the conference in total points with 237, and is second in total field goals made with 81. She leads the League in three-pointers as well with 31.

Ivy Turner posted her 10th overall game of scoring in double-digits this season with 17 in the road victory over the Jaguars.

Grayson Rose currently leads the Horizon League in rebounding with 9.6 boards per game, and ranks second in the conference in total rebounds with 115. She additionally leads the League in total blocked shots with 35 this season.
• Rose continues to climb the charts in the NKU history books, as she currently ranks 14th all-time in career rebounds (684), tied for 17th all-time in games played (120) and tied for second in blocked shots average (1.2). Rose jumped to second all-time in career blocked shots earlier this season as well.
• Rose ranks 11th in the nation in total blocks with 25. She also ranks 11th in the country in blocks per game at 2.92. She has also been a force on the glass this season, ranking 81st in the nation in total rebounds with 115. She ranks 46th overall in rebounds per game with at 9.6 as well.
• Turner was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Nov. 20-28.
• Duvall was named the Nike Horizon League Player of the Week during the week of Dec. 6-12.
• Duvall and Turner each received conference accolades with Duvall earning Horizon League Preseason All-League First Team and Turner getting an All-League Second Team nod.
• The Norse were picked to finish fourth in the 2021-22 Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Norse finished the 2020-21 season eighth overall in the Horizon League. NKU defeated Robert Morris in the first round of the conference tournament before falling to rival and number one seed Wright State in the quarterfinals.
Last Time Out
Northern Kentucky knocked off Horizon League preseason favorite IUPUI on the road by a score of 54-53 on Dec. 31. Duvall led the Norse in scoring with 26 total points, shooting 9-for-19 from the field. Duvall also drained seven three-pointers, which was a career-high for the senior. Turner posted 17 points in the contest, shooting 5-for-5 from the free throw line. She also recorded a team-high three assists as well. NKU defensively disrupted IUPUI's shooting today, as the Jaguars went just 4-for-17 (23.5%) from beyond the arc. This was the fifth straight win for NKU, which the last time the Norse posted five consecutive victories occurred in 2015 from Feb. 11 through March 11.
Scouting Detroit Mercy
Detroit Mercy currently sits at 0-14 overall this season, with a Horizon League record of 0-7 as well. The Titans most recent game played featured UDM falling to Purdue Fort Wayne on the road by a final score of 62-57. UDM is led offensively this season by Sydney Searcy with 10.5 points per game. Brandi Washington is the Titans second leading scorer at 8.2 ppg. On the glass Irene Murua leads Detroit Mercy with 5.9 rebounds per game. Murua is also averaging 7.4 ppg.
Series Stuff
Northern Kentucky has held down a strong lead all-time against Detroit Mercy, as the Norse enter this contest on an eight-game winning streak versus the Titans. NKU is 3-2 all-time in Detroit against UDM however, but the Norse handled the Titans easily a season ago inside Calihan Hall, 82-61.
