HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Horizon League office announced Monday afternoon that Northern Kentucky's Kailee Davis was tabbed as the Nike® Horizon League Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week.

"I'm so proud and happy for Kailee!" said head coach Camryn Whitaker. "This week she showed what I've always known she's capable of. her ability to distribute and score the basketball is something our team needs consistently. KD has worked very hard to get herself in great shape and provide a huge spark for us off the bench!"

Davis returned to her hometown of Detroit, Michigan last Thursday to help the Norse down the Titans of UDM 74-54. In this matchup Davis played a huge role in the victory, posting a career-high 14 total points, shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc. The freshman added three rebounds and went 2-for-2 from the free throw line in the 20-point win over Detroit Mercy as well. She set additional career-highs in this game in field goal attempts (10), three-pointers made (4), and three-point shots attempted. 

Kailee continued her high level of play against Oakland, scoring 10 points off the bench, shooting 4-for-6 from the floor in the 79-67 win. She once again went a perfect 2-for-2 from the charity stripe and added two assists to her stat sheet, along with tying her career-best in field goals made. She has now scored 10 or more points in back-to-back games for the Norse and her impressive efforts have Northern Kentucky currently on a seven-game winning streak. 

This is the first Horizon League Freshman of the Week selection for Northern Kentucky this season.

Northern Kentucky returns to action next on Thursday, Jan. 20, hosting rival Wright State in a Horizon League matchup inside BB&T Arena. This conference contest is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. in Highland Heights, Ky.
