HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Horizon League office announced Monday afternoon that Northern Kentucky's
Lindsey Duvall was selected as the of the Nike® Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
"I'm proud of how our team continues to grow and mature so far this season," said head coach Camryn Whitaker. "Lindsey, along with the rest of our upperclassmen are great leaders and show that on and off the court. On top of her leadership, she is a force on the court!"
Duvall, a senior guard from Mt. Washington, Kentucky, helped fuel the Norse to a 54-53 road win over Horizon League preseason favorite IUPUI this week. She finished the game with 26 points, shooting 9-for-19 overall and connected on 7-of-12 three-pointers (58%). Her seven made three's was a career-high, and Duvall was able to stay hot from beyond the arc against a Jaguars team that entered the game ranked No. 1 overall in the country in three-point field goal defense.
In the fourth quarter alone, Lindsey shot an impressive 4-for-6 (67%) from three-point range, and went on a scoring run of her own in the fourth period of 9-4 against the Jaguars. Duvall then hit back-to-back three's in the last 2:47 of regulation to see the Norse point total up to 54 to help secure the win. She finished the day with five rebounds, two steals and went 1-for-1 from the free throw line as well. She also keeps her streak alive of scoring in double-digits while in a Norse uniform, increasing the total to 31 consecutive games now.
This was the first win at IUPUI during Coach Whitaker's time at NKU, and also the first victory for the Norse at IUPUI since the 1995-96 season with the Norse winning 47-44.
This is the third Horizon League Player of the Week selection for Northern Kentucky this season, and the second overall this year for Duvall.
The Norse return to the court next on Friday, Jan. 8, hosting Robert Morris in Horizon League action inside BB&T Arena. This conference matchup is set to tip off at 7 p.m. in Highland Heights, Ky.
