@NKUNorseXCTF in action at Cherry Blossom Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field programs were in action at the Cherry Blossom Invitational this past weekend, hosted by Ohio University.

"It was nice to have better weather in which to compete this weekend, still not perfect however it never is," said head coach Steve Kruse. "The difference (in weather) made a world of difference for our sprint crew as they made a bigger splash this week in the results. With victories from Lynsey Shipley, Andrea Armstrong and Emily Phillips (due to a timing issue, the results were negated and Phillips' time was not registered), we were much better. Several PR's on the men's and women's side as well and we are looking for even better results at Ohio State this coming weekend."

WOMEN'S RESULTS
  • Lynsey Shipley continued to dominate this outdoor season as she picked up the victory in the 400-meter dash with a time of 55.95 overall. Shipley's time in the event also moves her up into a tie for first in Horizon League in the 400m as well.
  • Andrea Armstrong also picked up right where she left off and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.98.
  • Jailyn Ross turned in a solid run in the 100-meter dash as she went on to place second overall with a time of 12.68. Tahlea Harris finished in sixth overall, with a PR of 12.99 as well.
  • Emily Phillips did post a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash as well, clocking a time of 25.83 on the day.
  • Nelle Yankovich posted a fifth-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a PR of 18:58.92.
  • The Norse women finished in fourth overall as a team with 55 points out of 10 total competing teams at this meet also.

MEN'S RESULTS
