@NKUNorseTennis Ananya Kothakota selected to #HLTennis All-Academic Team

INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky women's tennis student-athlete Ananya Kothakota was selected to the 2021-22 Horizon League Women's Tennis All-Academic Honorable Mention Team announced by the conference Tuesday.

A total of 10 #HLTennis teams are represented among both All-Academic teams and honorable mentions with Cleveland State, UIC and Youngstown State leading the way with three combined selections. IUPUI and Milwaukee each finished with two combined honorees, while Northern Kentucky and Oakland each had one selection.

"Ananya is the epitome of a student-athlete, excellent on and off the court" said head tennis coach Brian Nester. "She represents Northern Kentucky University at the highest level."

Kothakota, a junior from Hyderabad, India, earns her first conference all-academic selection with a current grade point average of 3.93 while majoring in finance at Northern Kentucky. She additionally is minoring in both economics and business and has been serving as a tutor at NKU for over a year, specializing in finance, accounting and mathematics courses. Ananya has also spent time volunteering for FUEL NKU and she has been a member of a Norse Women's Tennis program that has been recognized by the university for posting the highest athletic team GPA for four total semesters.

On the court, Kothakota is currently 4-8 in singles action during the 2022 season, picked up victories over opponents that include Saint Francis, Cleveland State, Dayton and Oakland. In doubles plays, she holds an overall record of 4-7 this year with wins against Duquesne, Saint Francis, UIC, and Dayton.
