2023 NKU SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky softball program released its 2023 schedule, a slate that features 14 home games, four standout tournaments which includes trips to Texas A&M, Louisville and Jacksonville, home showdowns with SEC power Kentucky and in-state foe Eastern Kentucky, and 51 contests overall, announced on Wednesday by head coach Kathryn Gleason.

"We have put together a very competitive schedule, in order to prepare us for the Horizon League Conference season," Gleason said. "We are finally bringing senior Mackenzie Mitchell home to College Station, Texas to begin the season. We are excited to play in one of the finest built stadiums in the country at Texas A&M, and to kick of the season with some great teams.  The rest of the preseason will also challenge us with NCAA Tournament teams with games against SIU Carbondale, Northwestern and North Florida. The highlight of our home schedule will be when we welcome the University of Kentucky to Grein Field.  We will be challenged in the preseason, but we know that it will prepare us for a very competitive conference season."

The Norse get the 2023 campaign underway with three highly competitive tournaments, beginning with the Texas A&M Invitational that runs Feb. 10-12 in College Station, Texas. NKU will take on the likes of Power Five programs Texas A&M and Michigan State, amongst others.

The squad then heads to Southern Illinois University for the Coach B Classic, Feb. 24-26. NKU follows it up with a short trip South for the University of Louisville's Cardinal Classic, March 3-5.

The Norse conclude their stellar Spring preseason schedule with the Jacksonville University's JU/UNF Spring Break Challenge, March 8-12. Overall, the four preseason tournaments will account for 21 games played before the Norse return North for Horizon League play.

To conclude March, NKU jumps right into conference action with a home-series against Green Bay (March 17-18) and a non-conference clash with local rival Dayton (March 21). The Norse end the month of March with another conference series at Oakland (March 24-25) and a non-conference battle against Marshall (March 28). The team will also host Cleveland State (March 31-April 1).

The month of April begins with another huge home game, this time against in-state foe Eastern Kentucky (April 4). The squad then hits the road for a conference series against Robert Morris (April 7-8), returns home for a series versus IUPUI (April 11-12), takes off again for a series at Detroit Mercy (April 14-15), the big home showdown with Kentucky (April 18), a road series at Purdue Fort Wayne (April 21-22) and a non-conference tilt at Bellarmine (April 26).

The month of May ends the regular season for the Norse with the final home series against Youngstown State (May 5-6).

The Horizon League Championships are set for May 10-13 at a location still to be determined.

Streaming and promotional information for the 2023 campaign will be announced at a later date on NKUNorse.com and the NKU social media channels.
