Women's Basketball Adds Two Local Products For 2023-24

HIGHLAND HEIGHTSKy. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball head coach Camryn Whitaker announced the signing of two student-athlete transfers to join the Norse women's basketball program in the fall of 2023. 

Mya Meredith and Macey Blevins each signed and completed the proper paperwork to officially come on board Northern Kentucky Basketball, joining the Norse after spending two seasons each at Western Kentucky. 

"I am extremely excited to have Macey and Mya join our family at NKU!" said head coach Camryn Whitaker"Both bring a unique skill set that will elevate our program in numerous ways. They are strong, physical guards who can score in a variety of ways. Norse Nation is going to love watching these two play over the next two years!
 
MYA MEREDITH
  • Meredith is a 5-foot-11 guard from Newport, Ky. where she attended Scott High School
    • Named to the All-State second team as a sophomore after averaging 25.2 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game
    • Earned 10th Region All-Tournament Team honors
    • Named to the All-NKAC Div. I and All-Northern Kentucky first teams
    • Played for Kentucky Premier at the AAU level
  • Joins NKU after spending the previous two seasons with Western Kentucky University
    • 2021-22 (Freshman): Conference USA Freshman of the Year despite missing the last eight games of the season due to injury
    • C-USA All-Freshmen Team
    • Named C-USA Freshman of the Week for the entire month of January, earning the honor four straight weeks
    • Averaged 12.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game 
    • 2022-23 (Sophomore): During her sophomore campaign, she was WKU's third leading scorer 
    • Meredith was also the second-leading rebounder on the Hilltoppers during the 2022-23 season


MACEY BLEVINS
  • Blevins is a 5-foot-10 guard from Monticello, Ky. where she attended Wayne County High School
    • Named to the Courier Journal All-State First Team as a senior and was named a finalist for Kentucky Miss Basketball
    • Holds nine school records at Wayne County High School (career field goals, career points, single game points, career blocks, career free throws made, career 3-pointers made, single game assists, single game blocks and single game 3-pointers made)
    • Scored over 2,000 career points in high school as the all-time leading scorer in program history
    • Played with Kentucky Premier at the AAU level
    • In the classroom, was an All A Honor Roll member and was named to the Academic Hall of Fame at Wayne County
    • She was a member of National Honor Society
  • Joins NKU after spending the previous two seasons with Western Kentucky University
    • 2021-22 (Freshman): Played in all 30 games and got the starting nod in 26 games
    • Her 1.53 three pointers per game was the 13th most in Conference USA; Led WKU with the most 3-pointers on the team
    • Scored in double digits 11 times throughout the season
    • Named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2021-22 academic year
    • 2022-23 (Sophomore): Played in all 33 games, making starts in 7 total
    • Averaged 4.5 points per game, along with 1.6 rebounds per game
    • Was tied for fourth WKU in total three-pointers made
