Women's Basketball Adds Four in 2025 Class

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - After an exciting win on Sunday at Marshall, Northern Kentucky Women's Basketball has more good news to share, as the program announced four signees to the class of 2025 on Friday. The class consists of four prep players all coming from different states.

"We are excited to welcome these four families to Norse Nation," expressed Head Coach Jeff Hans.

THE CLASS

Karina Bystry - Guard, 5'10", McMinn Central High School, Madisonville, Tenn.

A volume scorer, Bystry has tallied 1700 points over three years with McMinn Central. After averaging 10.3 points per game as a freshman, Bystry had a big sophomore breakout for a McMinn Central team that finished as the runner-up in the Tennessee Class 2A State Championship. Bystry averaged 17.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.2 steals in her sophomore campaign, and made 67 threes. In her junior season, McMinn Central won Class 2A District 3 with a 30-5 record as Bystry made an even bigger jump statistically. Averaging 21.0 points per game, Bystry also recorded her most efficient season of her career, shooting 45% from the field, 38% from three, and 84% from the free throw line, while 42.4% of her shot attempts came from behind the arc. In 2023-24, she also put up 2.7 steals and 6.4 rebounds per game.

FROM THE STAFF
"Karina comes from a winning high school program in Tennessee who played for a state title last year. She impacts the game in a lot of different ways, and we are excited about the length and athleticism she is bringing to our perimeter group."

Caroline Eaglin - Guard, 5'9", Newport Central Catholic High School, Newport, Ky.

The Norse add a local product in the 2025 class in Newport Central Catholic guard Caroline Eaglin, who has been making an impact on the Thoroughbreds' Girls Basketball team ever since her freshman year. As a freshman, Eaglin finished second on the team in scoring with 12 points per game and was a Division II All-Star Selection. In her sophomore campaign, Eaglin exploded as a scorer, more than doubling her freshman total with 24.8 points per game, with a season-high of 41 points. She crossed the 1,000-point club in her second season, and will surely hit 2,000 during her senior campaign, currently sitting at 1,807 career points. Her sophomore performance earned her a lot of recognition, including a pair of All-9th Region selections, three all-tournament team selections, and a Division II All-Conference Team selection. In 2023-24, Eaglin averaged 21.9 points, which was top 20 in the state, and also added 7.4 rebounds per game. She was selected to the Junior Class Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Game and was once again an All-9th Region selection by multiple associations, a Division II All-Conference Team selection, and multiple All-Tournament Team selections.

FROM THE STAFF
"Caroline is a hard-nosed local, guard who will bring a high level of competition to the program. She can score in a multitude of ways and will do anything to help her team win. Caroline is a Norse through and through, with both her parents graduating from NKU and her brother currently playing on the Norse golf team."

Maddie Moody - Forward, 6'1", Archbishop Alter High School, Cincinnati, Ohio

Maddie Moody will help bring the Norse some size while also being able to attack from the perimeter. Moody's high school team, Archbishop Alter, is a powerhouse in Ohio basketball, and Moody has been a big reason why. Over the past three years, the Knights have gone 76-8, including a state championship in her freshman season. Alter has won a district and GCL title in all three of Moody's seasons, while Moody has picked up a plethora of individual awards. GCL Player of the Year, AP Southwest District Player of the Year, and First-Team AP All-State to name just a few. Last season, Moody averaged 17.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1.6 steals per contest. She also proved to be an efficient scorer, knocking down 52.5% of her two-point attempts and 42.4 percent of her threes.

FROM THE STAFF
"Maddie has seen her game develop over the years to stretch her game to the perimeter. Her ability to score inside and outside, meanwhile attacking the glass will be what separates her from her opponents."

Jamaya Thomas - Forward/Center, 6'1", Lawrence North High School, Indianapolis, Ind.

Jamaya Thomas will also be an important piece for a Norse squad needing some size. Thomas, a 6'1" forward/center from Indianapolis, attends Lawrence North High School and has shined on the court, as a four-year varsity starter. In her sophomore season, Thomas was fourth on the team in scoring, with 7.7 points per game, and was second in rebounding with 4.7 per game. As a sophomore, Thomas' Wildcats made an incredible postseason run, winning a conference championship, sectional championship, regional championship, and a final four appearance. In Thomas' junior campaign, the Wildcats were ranked in the top ten in the state for the entire season, going 18-6. Thomas averaged 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game in the season and picked up a slew of awards, including All-County, All-Conference, and an All-District honorable mention.

FROM THE STAFF
"Jamaya is a physical post player who will bring a strong presence on the low block. Jamaya's high school and AAU programs have prepared her for the next level. We look forward to her continued development and being a part of her future success."
