INDIANAPOLIS – They might just have to go ahead and change the name of the award as
Carter McCray was named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season, announced by the league office on Monday.
McCray continues to prove she is not only one of the best freshmen in the Horizon, but in the entire nation with another big week. She got the two-game slate started with eight points, on a perfect 4-of-4 night from the field, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals against conference power Green Bay. She followed it up with yet another double-double as she went for 16 points, 10 boards, two helpers and two swipes in NKU's thrilling comeback win over Milwaukee.
For the week, the Oberlin, Ohio native averaged 12 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals over two games played. She also posted her 11 double-double of the year.
McCray leads the Horizon League in rebounding (10.8 boards per game), is third in field goal percentage (.528) and fifth in scoring (14.5 points per contest).
At the national level, McCray is tied for seventh in all of NCAA Division I basketball in offensive rebounds per game (4.6), 12
th in boards per contest (10.8), 19
th in total rebounds (237) and tied for 26
th in double-doubles.
Fresh off their win over Milwaukee, the Norse return home to Highland Heights to take on IUPUI on Wednesday, February 14 inside Truist Arena. Tip is set for 7 PM ET and
