Track & Field puts on a show to open Tennessee Invite

DAY ONE RESULTS AND DAY TWO LIVE STATS
 
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Northern Kentucky men's and women's track & field program proved the Norse belong on the big stage as NKU ran to one event win, seven personal records and two season bests on the opening night of the Tennessee Invite on Friday evening.

NOTABLES
- The top Norse finish of the night belonged to Natnael Weldemichael. The standout sophomore won the men's 5,000-meter in 14:18.52, a personal best. The time was also third all-time in school history and fourth so far in the event in the Horizon League. - Colton O'Hara also had a personal record in the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:38.41.
- Layla Henderson had a huge performance in the women's 5000-meter as she dropped a 17:15.08 to finish fifth overall. Sophia DeLisio was right behind in 14th at 17:53.36.
- Sierra Kendall posted a seven-place performance in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.36.
- Meredith Goff ran to an eighth-place finish in the women's' 200-meter dash as she crossed the line in 24.29.
- Grace Biddle claimed 10th overall in the women's 1,500-meter with a personal best time of 4:36.86. Jacquelyn Witt (19th, 4:44.90) ran a new season record in the event while Hope Erbach (20th, 4:48.01) also had a personal best showing.
- Jacob Line set a personal record in the men's 1,500-meter with a 12th-place finish at 3:55.53. Bryan Stoltzfus (28th, 4:07.75) and Brayden Rice (29th, 5:07.76) also set personal bests.
- Kierra Morris took 13th in the women's long jump with a best leap of 5.50-meters.
 
NEXT UP
The Norse will get right back to it with the second day of the Tennessee Invite on Saturday, April 6. The field portion of the schedule will get underway at 9 AM ET while the track slate will follow at noon. The meet will be streamed in front of a national audience on SEC Network+/ESPN+, with live coverage getting underway at noon.
