Women's Basketball inks graduate transfer Halle Idowu ahead of 2024-25 campaign

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball head coach Jeff Hans has added yet another talented student-athlete ahead of the 2024-25 season, as Halle Idowu has committed to Northern Kentucky for her graduate year.

"We are excited to welcome Halle to the Norse family for her graduate season!" said Hans. "Halle will bring an athletic presence and the ability to score in multiple ways. Halle plays with tenacity and an energy that our fans are going to love to watch." 

Idowu, a 5' 11" guard/forward from Calumet Park, Illinois, joins the Norse after two seasons at Northeastern University. In two years with the Huskies, Idowu played in 48 total games. In the 2023-24 season, she played 17 games and averaged 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. 

In her first season at Northeastern, Idowu played in 31 games with 18 starts while averaging 4.5 points and a team-high 5.7 rebounds per contest. She also led the team in blocks with 17 and forced turnovers at a high rate with 34 steals on the year. 

Across 48 games in her two seasons at Northeastern, Idowu scored 177 points, grabbed 222 rebounds, dished out 41 assists, blocked 19 shots and recorded 37 swipes. 

Prior to her time at Northeastern, Idowu spent two seasons at the University of Toledo. While with the Rockets, she played in 46 games off the bench, racking up 75 points and 93 rebounds during her time in the MAC. 

Idowu was a standout in the classroom at Toledo as well, being named Academic All-MAC as a sophomore. 

In high school, Idowu was a star at Harold L. Richards High School just outside of Chicago, finishing her career with a school record 1,853 points, 1,065 rebounds, 238 assists, 129 blocks and 290 steals. She was named All-South Suburban Conference Player of the Year as a senior, leading the school to its first regional championship in nearly 15 years.
