HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Another pair of firsts for Northern Kentucky Athletics is right around the corner as the men's and women's triathlon programs announced their inaugural 2024 campaigns on Wednesday.

Under head coach Brooks Doughtie, the Norse men's and women's teams will be competing for the first time in triathlon in school history.

The NKU women's triathlon team will compete at the NCAA Division I level right away during the 2024-25 academic year while the Norse men's program will start their first season as a club team, with NCAA competition on the horizon.

The women's program gets its inaugural year started off with a bang with a full schedule for the 2024 campaign. The Norse open at East Tennessee State's Aquathlon on Friday, August 30, followed by trips to the University of Indianapolis Super Sprint on September 7 and the Prairie State Collegiate Cup on Saturday, September 21.

The calendar then turns to championship season for NKU with the NCAA West Regional Championship on Saturday, October 12 and the NCAA Division I National Championships on Saturday, November 9.

"We are really excited for the women's triathlon season, NKU's first in school history," Doughtie said. "Our roster is coming together and the season will be here in the coming weeks! We have a good mix of some shorter events to get the student-athletes prepped to multi-sport racing in the early part of our schedule."

"Then we finish with a collegiate cup that will really prepare our student-athletes for postseason success. Doughtie added. "I am excited to get this group on campus and really showcase the sport of triathlon to the NKU community."

"We are excited to start NKU's first men's club team this Fall semester that will compete in the MidEast Collegiate Triathlon Conference," Doughtie said. "Our conference championship is at the end of September, and we will compete at the national championships during the Spring semester as well."
