HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball program will open the Jeff Hans era inside Truist Arena, as the Norse are set to host Middle Tennessee in their home opener on November 4.

The matchup marks the fourth straight season that NKU has opened at home. Since 2021-22, Northern Kentucky has racked up 27 home victories.
 

The season opener will be the fourth meeting all-time between the Norse and the Blue Raiders, and the first in Highland Heights since the 1979-80 campaign. NKU and Middle Tennessee met last season in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with MTSU emerging victorious on its home floor. Northern Kentucky's lone win in the three previous matchups was in Highland Heights.

With a roster full of talented faces, both old and new, first-year head coach Jeff Hans and staff are preparing NKU for a return to championship glory. Northern Kentucky is now set to face opponents from four different conferences in the early part of the season.

Middle Tennessee is coming off one of the best seasons in program history, finishing with a 30-5 record in 2023-24. The Blue Raiders won the Conference USA Tournament and upset Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season. MTSU is led by hall of fame head coach Rick Insell, who is the winningest basketball coach in Middle Tennessee history with 463 career collegiate victories.
