HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Another #HLBASE Weekly Award has been bestowed upon the Northern Kentucky baseball program, as Kaden Echeman has been named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after a career day on the mound against Purdue Fort Wayne.
It is the fourth straight week that the Norse have been honored with a weekly award from the Horizon League, and the second Pitcher of the Week award given to an NKU hurler.
It is the first Horizon League Pitcher of the Week Award for Kaden Echeman in his career.
Echeman took the ball for the Norse in the Horizon League Opener on Friday afternoon and delivered arguably the best performance of his career. The senior right-hander pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing only two hits while recording a career high 12 strikeouts without a walk.
Echeman retired the first 13 batters he faced, beginning the game with 4.1 perfect innings.
Echeman leads both the Norse and the Horizon League in strikeouts with 31 in just 20 innings. Opponents are hitting just .206 against Echeman this season.
