Four Norse named to 2025 Baseball Academic All-District Team

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Four members of the Northern Kentucky baseball team were selected to the 2025 Academic All-District Team, announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.

The quartet of Aaron Boster, Logen Devenport, Jake Paulick and Tyler Shaneyfelt were named to the team, with Devenport and Shaneyfelt being nominated for the All-America Team yet to be announced.

The honor is the first Academic All-District selection for each student-athlete.

Ranking among the nation's leaders with his 14 starts, Aaron Boster led the Norse in innings with 61.2 and co-led the Norse in wins with four on the season. He struck out 58 batters while opponents managed a mere .242 batting average against him. The lefty's two finest outings came the expense of Horizon League foe Milwaukee, as he threw six no-hit innings against the Panthers in March before stepping up in a huge rubber match win for the Norse on May 3, where he threw 5.2 innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts. He was named Second Team All-League at the conclusion of the regular season.

Finishing the season with a .423 batting average, Logen Devenport became the first Horizon League player since Peyton Burdick (Wright State, 2019) to finish the season with an average over .400 on his way to a First Team All-League selection.

In just 46 games, Devenport posted 23 multi-hit performances, with five three-hit games, a four-hit game and a five-hit game against Miami (OH) in February. He lead the Norse in home runs (14), doubles (19), total bases (132), batting average (.423), on-base percentage (.533), slugging percentage (.786) and OPS (1.319). He also stole 19 bases, and finished the season with a .987 fielding percentage.

Jake Paulick finished the season as one of the top catchers in the Horizon League, batting .265 with eight homers and 16 doubles as a redshirt sophomore. He ranked fourth on the team with 41 RBI and posted a near 1:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 47 games. Defensively, Paulick posted a .985 fielding percentage, and caught 16 would-be base stealers during the year.

Splitting time between second base, shortstop, and centerfield, Tyler Shaneyfelt was named to the Second Team for his work at second base. On the season, Shaneyfelt terrorized opponents on the base paths, at the plate, and in the field. His 32 stolen bases ranked second in the Horizon League and 26th nationally, while his 73 runs scored led the league and ranked ninth among all Division I players. He co-led the Norse in hits with 71 while posting four doubles, three triples and four home runs. He walked 37 times to just 34 strikeouts, posting a .447 on-base percentage. This past weekend against Youngstown State, he led the Norse to a sweep with a pair of four-hit games while stealing seven bases against the Penguins.
