Women’s Basketball releases non-conference schedule

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's basketball has revealed its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Norse travel to many regional powers, including Louisville and Ohio State, while hosting Toledo, Southern Indiana and Bradley at Truist Arena.

Seven of Northern Kentucky's nine announced opponents earned postseason berths in 2024-25, marking another challenging non-conference schedule for the Norse.

Fans can get an early preview of Norse women's basketball on October 30, when NKU hosts Wilmington in an exhibition at Truist Arena.

The Norse officially tip off the season on November 6 at Marshall, marking the third straight season that NKU and the Thundering Herd meet early in the season. Northern Kentucky won both matchups in 2023 (76-66) and 2024 (80-78), and leads the all-time series 7-1.

NKU then travels to Louisville on November 9, a squad the Norse have not played since 2021. The Cardinals are coming off a 22-11 season, including an NCAA Tournament appearance where they fell to No. 2 TCU in the Round of 32.

Following that, it's another matchup against the Cardinals, this time of Ball State. The Norse travel to Muncie for just the second time in program history on November 12. NKU was victorious in its last trip, a 69-67 win on December 8, 2012. The Cardinals saw a lot of success in the 2024-25 season, claiming MAC regular season and tournament championships.

NKU's four-game road trip to kick off the season ends in Indianapolis on November 16, as the Norse take on Butler. The Norse and Butler last faced off in 2013, with the Bulldogs winning 53-47. Last season, Butler finished 16-18 and appeared in the WNIT.

Northern Kentucky will host Toledo in its home opener on November 19, taking on Toledo. The Rockets and Norse faced off for the first time ever last season, with UT winning in a nail-biter, 76-73. Toledo is coming off a 24-9 season where they finished second in the MAC, and made an appearance in the WBIT.

NKU then travels to Tennessee for three games, first at Chattanooga on November 22. The Norse fell to the Mocs in 2023, 63-47, in Daytona Beach. In 2024-25, Chattanooga went 17-15, falling in the SoCon Championship and making the WNIT's second round.

Following that, the Norse will play a pair of games in Nashville at the Music City Classic on November 25 & 26, with opponents still to be announced.

NKU heads back home to Truist Arena on November 30, where they take on former GLVC foe Southern Indiana. NKU holds the upper hand in the all-time series, 38-20, but the Norse fell in last year's matchup, 75-73. Southern Indiana is coming off of a successful 2024-25 campaign, as they finished 23-13 with a WNIT Super 16 appearance.

The Norse then head up I-71 to Columbus to take on Ohio State on December 11, NKU's final non-conference road matchup. The Buckeyes finished 26-7 in 2024-25, earning a #4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the Round of 32. Overall, NKU is 0-3 all-time against Ohio State, most recently playing in 2020.

Northern Kentucky's final non-conference contest sees the Norse host Bradley on December 21. It marks just the second all-time matchup between the two squads, as the Braves emerged victorious in last year's matchup in Peoria. Bradley finished 14-19 in 2024-25.
