Karina Bystry & Maddie Moody earn #HLWBB Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced its All-League teams and award winners on Monday, as Norse women's basketball landed three total selections to this year's awards. Karina Bystry earned All-League Second Team honors and a spot on the All-Freshman team, while Maddie Moody was also named to the All-Freshman team.

Karina Bystry has strung together one of the best freshman campaigns in NKU's history, averaging 15.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Her 465 total points rank as the sixth-most by any Norse since the team joined Division I in 2012, and the second most by any freshman. Her 143 made free throws are the most in a single season by any Northern Kentucky player in its DI era. She ranked fourth in the league in scoring, second in made free throws, fifth in free throw percentage, and top-20 in steals and threes per game.

Maddie Moody had a strong freshman season for the Norse, averaging 10.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game, leading the squad in rebounds and blocks. The Kettering, Ohio, native led all freshmen in the Horizon League in rebounding and finished fifth among all players. She tallied three double-doubles this season, including a 15-point, 15-rebound performance in a win over IU Indy. Moody scored in double figures in 18 games this season, scoring a season-high 19 points twice.

Bystry, Moody, and the Norse open postseason play at Truist Arena on Wednesday, March 4 against IU Indy. Get your tickets today!
