Women’s Golf finishes third at Horizon League Championships, Reed finishes third among individuals

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's golf competed in the 2026 Horizon League Championships from Saturday to Monday. As a team, the Norse were consistent, posting team scores of 315-316-315 over three days, resulting in a third-place finish (946) and just one stroke off second in an impressive showing.

Eva Maley had a terrific round one as she led all players at one under par, and ended up being the only individual to post a single round score under par at the Horizon League Championships. She started on the back nine with three bogeys through her first seven, but finished strong with four birdies and nothing above par over the final eleven holes of the first round, posting a 72 on the 73-par course. She led a Norse squad that finished at 23-over in round one and fourth overall, six strokes off the leader, Oakland. Cammy Reed posted a 76 in round one, good for seventh to exit the day. Ryliann Bednar (+10), Kenna Jenkinson (+11), and Ella Hardy (+12) rounded out the group of Norse golfers on day one.

In round two, Eva Maley entered the day with a three-stroke lead and exited in a three-way tie for first, as Maley posted a 77 in round two. Maley bogeyed twice and double-bogeyed on 15 for a four-over par on the day, tied for the fifth-best second round score. Tied with Maley was Norse teammate Cammy Reed, who also put up a 77 in round two. Reed started with three bogeys on the front nine but battled back with a one-over back nine to finish at four-over on the day, and put her just four strokes back of her teammate for first overall. NKU sat six strokes back of second-place Youngstown State, exiting the second round in third place as a team.

On the final day, Jenkinson posted the best individual score of all Norse, going three-over for a 76. Jenkinson posted three birdies on the front nine of the final round before going four-over on the back to settle with a top-three round-three finish. Cammy Reed again delivered with a four-over in the final round, tied for fifth in the round as she bounced back with an even-par back nine. Reed's 11-over tournament placed her alone in third place overall, just a stroke off a tie for first. Maley slipped to a tie for sixth overall, as she struggled late with an eight-over back nine of the third round. Jenkinson finished in a tie for 19th at +23, while Ella Hardy (+29, T-25) and Ryliann Bednar (+30, T-27) rounded out the group of Norse competitors.

Overall, Northern Kentucky tied its second-best finish at the Horizon League Championships with a third-place finish, and its best since the 2017 season. NKU's overall team score of 946 marked its second-lowest at the Horizon League Championships, behind only 2017, when the Norse finished at 935. The Norse were excellent on par-fives, finishing 11-over and six strokes above the next-best, while also posting the fewest bogeys of any team with 67.
