BATAVIA, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse men's golf hosted the annual Jewell Invitational on Monday & Tuesday, finishing in eighth place out of fourteen competing teams. The Norse tied with Miami (OH)'s secondary squad at 38-over par.
Leading the Norse at the tournament was
Michael Long, who finished tied for 23rd overall with a nine-over par. Long showed consistency throughout, posting scores of 73-75-74 on the 71-par course. He posted just ten bogies overall, and two birdies, with both of those coming in the final round.
Brady Holmes and
Mason Butler both competed as independents, and both finished tied for 26th at +10, tied for the second-best overall score for any Norse. Holmes went 75-73-75 while Butler posted a 71-76-76 and was one of just two NKU golfers to score even par in any round.
Caleb Eaglin finished 11-over, posting scores of 73-79-72, ending strong with three birdies in the final round.
Micah Bertram and
Isaac Moody both tied for 42nd overall with a score of +13, as Bertram went 76-76-74 while Moody scored 73-76-77.
Zack Beard rounded out NKU's group of scoring athletes with a score of 14-over.
Next up, the Norse head to the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Kentucky.
