Megan Molner tabbed #HLWSOC Offensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer senior Megan Molner picked up weekly honors from the Horizon League on Monday, as she was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week following a hat trick in her season debut. 

"Congratulations to Megan on a fantastic start to the season," said Norse head coach Bob Sheehan. "Megan demonstrated her skill with a very composed finish off a great delivery from Erykah just six minutes into the match. Scoring early, especially on such a hot day, was a huge boost for the team. Megan then scored twice in the first 16 minutes of the second half. First, she followed up her penalty kick after Emma was fouled in the penalty box on a serve from Riley. Then, she found the back of the net with a terrific header off a great delivery from Emma. Megan's three goals were huge moments that made a difference in the game."

In Northern Kentucky's season opener against Austin Peay on Wednesday, Molner scored the first three goals of the match for the Norse, helping lead them to a 4-1 victory over the Governors. Molner attempted seven shots in the match, with six of them being on goal. Her hat trick marked the first in program history since the Norse joined Division I, with the most recent coming in the 2011 campaign. 

The weekly award marked the second of Molner's career, as she was also tabbed Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on September 22, 2025 after scoring two game-winning goals and recording an assist in back-to-back Norse victories. 

Molner and Northern Kentucky take on Mount St. Joseph in the home opener this Thursday, August 20, at 7 PM at NKU Soccer Stadium.
