KANSAS CITY, Mo. –  Northern Kentucky University Norse women's soccer continued its standard academic excellence in the 2025-26 academic year, as the Norse earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award. It marked the 21st-consecutive year that the team earned the distinction, and the 24th overall. 

"Huge congratulations to our student-athletes on earning the National Team Academic Award," said Norse head coach Bob Sheehan. "This achievement reflects their commitment to excellence in the classroom. Their passion, dedication, and discipline have allowed them to excel academically while competing at a high level. We are incredibly proud of our exceptional student-athletes for demonstrating what it means to be successful, balanced, and committed. Congratulations on this well-deserved award!"

 A total of 778 soccer teams (326 men, 452 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, making them eligible for the prestigious academic award. View the full list here. 

The United Soccer Coaches organization celebrates the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.

Northern Kentucky opens the season on August 12, taking on Austin Peay in Clarksville at 2 PM.
