Wright State tops @NKUNorseBSB on Saturday

DAYTON, Ohio- The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell 16-7 to Wright Sate in game two of a three-game series with the Raiders on Saturday. The Norse fell to 13-36 overall and 11-15 in Horizon League play while the Raiders moved to 36-15 and 18-8 in league play.
 
At the plate
  • Griffin Doersching led the way at the plate for NKU going 3-4 on the day with two RBI and a walk.
  • Noah Fisher accounted for one Norse run with a solo-homerun in the top of the second inning.
  • Jake Murray contributed with a pair of Norse hits going 2-4 with one RBI.
  • Preston Pilat and Andrew Bacon each had a hit a piece for Northern Kentucky with each collecting one RBI.
On the mound Key moments
  • The Norse got off to a fast start in the top of the first inning, with the bases loaded Andrew Bacon popped a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Sam Hedges to take the lead 1-0.
  • Later in the Norse half of the first with two on, Jake Murray singled to right field scoring Will Haueter for a 2-0 lead.
  • Wright State responded in the bottom half of the first putting up five runs to take the lead on six hits.
  • The Norse battled back with a solo-shot to left field by Fisher, cutting the Raider lead to three.
  • NKU tallied another run in the top of the third. After Doersching singled to right field, Bacon reached on a fielder's choice but a throwing error allowed Bacon to reach second and Doersching to score.
  • Wright State responded again in the third inning platting two runs in the bottom half of the inning to push its lead 7-4.
  • The Norse kept the fight alive in the top of the fourth with Doersching slapping a two-run double pulling NKU within one run of the 7-6 Raider lead.
  • Wright State exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth tacking on one more run in the fifth and two runs in the sixth.
