Raiders get past @NKUNorseBSB on Sunday

DAYTON, Ohio- The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Wright State 9-1 on Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Stadium. NKU falls to 13-37 on the season and 11-16 in Horizon League play while Wright State moves to 37-15 overall and 19-8 in league play.

  • Zane Collins (8-3) got the win for Wright State allowing two hits in six innings of work.
  • Tristan Haught, Jake Schrand, Bradley Deboutte and Tyler Luneke all made an appearance for the Raiders.
  • Proctor Mercer (2-5) took the loss for NKU striking out four batters over five innings of work.
Key moments
  • Wright State took an early lead in the bottom of the first getting one run on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Burdick. The Raiders got another run on an RBI single by Tyler Black.
  • The Raiders held the Norse at bay while adding two runs in the second, two runs in the sixth and three runs in the eighth.
  • NKU got on the board in the top of the ninth when Luty scored from third on a wild pitch with two outs and two on base.

  • Northern Kentucky will step out of Horizon League play for one final time this season taking a quick trip across the Ohio River for a second showdown with the University of Cincinnati on Tuesday with first pitch set for 11 a.m. ET.
