HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University Baseball team (0-16, 0-0 HL) fell to Dayton (6-7, 0-0 A10), 14-0, on Sunday at Woerner Field.
AT THE PLATE
- Billy Marion had the best day for the Norse with a double in a 2-for-3 day.
- Treyvin Moss was 1-for-3 in the game and also had a walk.
- Jake Murray and Andrew Bacon also had a hit in the contest. Bacon's team-best hitting streak extends to 12 games.
ON THE MOUND
- Proctor Mercer (L, 0-2) started the first two innings for NKU, allowing a pair of runs off of four hits and a walk.
- Jared Flueck worked the mound for 4.1 innings, yielding 11 runs on 12 hits and a walk.
- Tyler Ollier closed out the game's last 1.2 innings, giving up a run and a couple of hits.
KEY MOMENTS
- The game was tight through four innings as Dayton lead 2-0 after getting a couple in the second. NKU's only hit in opening frames was a leadoff single up the middle by Moss in the first.
- Marion broke the hitting drought in the fifth with NKU's second single up the middle. He was able to get into scoring position by stealing second, but was ultimately stranded.
- Dayton had a strong back-half of the game, putting up two, three and six runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, respectively.
- The lone extra-base hit of the afternoon for NKU came by Marion in the seventh, where he pulled a ball down the right-field line.
- The Flyers used two doubles in the bottom of the eighth to close out the game with another run.
