HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The 2021-22 Northern Kentucky women's basketball nonconference schedule continues to take shape, as the Norse will host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, Nov. 14. NKU previously announced a home game against Kent State on Nov. 10.
EKU went 9-15 last year, including an 8-12 mark in OVC action. Three of the Colonels nonconference 2020-21 opponents were nationally ranked, No. 15/16 Indiana, No. 5 Louisville and No. 16 Northwestern. Senior forward Jayla Johnson returns to lead Eastern Kentucky. The native of Dallas averaged a team-best 13.5 points and added 4.3 rebounds per game.
Eastern Kentucky will compete as members of the ASun this year after officially joining the conference on July 1.
Northern Kentucky returns four of its top five scorers off of the 2020-21 squad, Lindsey Duvall (16.9 ppg), Ivy Turner (11.2), Carissa Garcia (8.3) and Grayson Rose (7.7). The quartet also comprised four of the team's starters from a season ago. Duvall also led the team in rebounding (7.8 rpg), while Turner handed out a team-high 2.7 assists per game and Rose led the team in blocked shots with 26.
