LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Bellarmine Open inside the Norton HS&L Center Friday evening.
"Overall the entire team had a better outing this week," said head coach
Steve Kruse. "And as a group we were far more competitive as well. We'll have a tough 10 days of training ahead of us and will go into February just a bit more hungry."
Women's results
- Julia Pohl continued her impressive start to the season as well, picking up a win in the high jump with a clearance of 5-feet 7 inches (1.70m) to set an NKU indoor record in the event. Pohl's mark also breaks her own Northern Kentucky track and field freshman record, which she set a week ago at the Jim Green Invitational (1.66m).
- Lynsey Shipley posted two impressive runs in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash on the day. In the 60m dash, she posted a second place finish at 7.77, and in the 200m Shipley was third overall with a season-best of 25.11.
- Megan Sullivan and Andrea Armstrong placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 400-meter dash at today's meet. Sullivan posted a PR of 58.87 overall, and Armstrong was not far behind at 59.41 as well.
- Megan Cole and Jacquelyn Witt each notched top 10 runs in the 3000-meter event. Cole finished eighth overall with a time of 10.38.37, and Witt crossed the finish line in ninth with a time of 10:46.11.
- Nelle Yankovich ran a PR of 2:28.07 in the 800m run to place in ninth overall.
Men's results
- Liam Ehrman continued his solid beginning to the indoor season with a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.24 overall. Liam continued his day with the 60-meter dash where he placed 12th overall at 7.30 (7.298) as well.
- Kyle Mastin clocked a solid run in the 3000-meter event, placing fourth overall with a time of 8:44.30.
- Cody Chism turned in a top ten performance in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line at 2:01.02 to secure eighth overall.
- Will Griffith posted a personal record in the 800m event, clocking a time of 2:06.63 and placed 19th overall as well.

- The Norse women's and men's track and field squads will look to return to Bellarmine University for the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday, Feb. 4, which will be hosted inside the Norton HS&L Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
