YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up the two day Horizon League Indoor Championships Sunday evening, hosted by Youngstown State.
"So proud of Julia and the poise she showed in such a pressure cooker situation," said head coach
Steve Kruse. "Really got our team off to the right start on "Championship Sunday". Shipley had the strength to get through two prelims and three finals, each effort stronger than the last. In Championship meets, we depend on our strongest athletes to deliver the goods when the anxiety is highest. Lynsey came through, as did a lot of others, we had many, many lifetime bests today for both our men's & women's programs."
"The League continues to expand and get deeper in talent each year," Kruse continued. "We are already thinking about how to squeeze a few more points in for the outdoor season and beyond. Our numbers will be up next year and we certainly hope to continue the excellence in our strongest events and add some more competitiveness in those events that we are currently not scoring in. Right now, tomorrow, we need a bit of rest. We open our outdoor track season in less than three weeks!"
