@NKUNorseXCTF wrap up #HLTF Outdoor Championships

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field programs wrapped up the 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Championships from Rochester, Michigan Sunday evening.  
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
  • Stealing the show once again was the Norse 4x400-meter relay squad of Lynsey Shipley, Andrea Armstrong, Erika Nageleisen and Megan Sullivan who claimed the Horizon League Outdoor Track Championship after posting a time of 3:47.25. 
  • Megan Cole posted an incredible run in the 10,000-meter event, moving up from seventh to third place during the last 800-meters of the race. Cole captured a third place overall finish with a time of 36:39.23. Cole earned herself an All-Horizon League Honorable Mention selection for her efforts and her overall time was a personal best for the junior. Additionally her performance was the second fastest female Norse 10k in program history as well. Cole additionally finished fifth overall in the 5000-meter run with an overall time of 17:44.71. 
  • Jacquelyn Witt qualified for the 1500-meter final after running a very smart race down the home stretch for a time of 4:51.19. Witt then went on to finish 12th overall in the 1500m final after posting a time of 4:48.77.
  • Julia Pohl capped off a stellar first year with Northern Kentucky in the high jump, finishing in a tie for second place at (1.65m) and capturing seven points for the Norse. 
  • Armstrong went on to finish second overall in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.04 just behind winner Clark from Purdue Fort Wayne who finished 55.38.
  • Nageleisen qualified for the 800-meter final where she turned in a seventh place finish with an overall time of 2:17.99.
  • Sullivan captured six points for Northern Kentucky in the 400-meter hurdles with a third place finish and a time of 1:02.37.
  • Northern Kentucky as a team finished sixth overall with 48 total points. Youngstown State took home the top spot in the conference with 252 total points.

MEN'S RESULTS
  • Cody Chism earned himself a third place overall finish in the 800-meter finals after running a race with a time of 1:53.90 to earn the Norse six team points.
  • Kyle Mastin nearly missed earning points for NKU in the 5000-meter race, placing ninth overall with a time of 15:00.42. Owen Matthews crossed the finish line in 22nd overall in the 5000m run after posting a time of 15:51.09. 
  • Mastin saw an impressive run in the 3000-meter steeplechase after finishing third with a time of 9:21.20 to earn another six points for the Norse.
  • NKU finished in eighth overall with 18 points at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships and the Penguins of YSU captured first place as a team with 257 points.
