HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky women's basketball program will travel to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to take on the Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee State in late December as the Norse continue to bolster their non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season.
NKU and Middle Tennessee will meet on Wednesday, December 20 inside the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro for only the third time in school history. Overall, this series is knotted up at 1-1 with the Norse winning the first meeting in Highland Heights, Kentucky in 1980 by a score of 70-69. The Blue Raiders took matchup number two from NKU in 1986 at a neutral site by a score of 70-69 as well.
MTSU is coming off one of their best seasons in program history with a record of 28-5 overall and 18-2 in CUSA action. The Blue Raiders finished the year as both CUSA regular season and CUSA tournament champions, earning themselves a bid to the 2023 NCAA Tournament as a No. 11 seed. Middle Tennessee saw their season end by Pac-12 opponent, Colorado in the First Round by a score of 82-60.
Northern Kentucky is coming off a Horizon League Semifinals run with an overall record of 17-14 and a fifth-place finish in the conference at 10-10 as well. NKU will see key returners in
Kailee Davis,
Khamari Mitchell-Steen and
Kennedy Igo to lead the Norse in the goal of a Horizon League title for the 2023-24 season. Key role players
Allison Basye and
Paige Hodgson are back for the Norse as well to help fuel Northern Kentucky on the court.
NKU will see seven newcomers join the squad for the 2023-24 campaign which includes juniors
Mya Meredith and
Macey Blevins, and freshmen
Meadow Tisdale,
Carter McCray,
Noelle Hubert,
Madison French and
Gabby Razzano.
