HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — Northern Kentucky women's soccer's Lydia Self has been named to the #HLWSOC All-Academic Team, the Horizon League announced Tuesday afternoon.
Self, the reigning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, has excelled both in the classroom and on the pitch during her career in Highland Heights. This season, she has started all 17 games for the Norse, who are a win or draw away from clinching the two-seed in the Horizon League Tournament.
Self ranks second on the team in goals, with five this season, including four game-winning goals. She has scored in back-to-back games, coming up clutch for the Norse down the stretch on their current five match winning streak.
In the classroom, Self has been nearly perfect as well, with a 3.989 GPA as an exercise science major. She has been named to the President's Honors List five times for a perfect 4.0 semester GPA, and has been named to the Dean's List six times.
