INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky standout
Carter McCray continues to be one of the best freshmen not only in the conference, but in the entire nation as she was named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this year, announced by the league office on Monday.
McCray continued to be a force for the Norse in their perfect 2-0 week against conference foes. The Oberlin, Ohio native started the slate with nine points, 14 rebounds and a steal in a win over Detroit Mercy and followed it up with 23 points, 12 boards and a swipe in the victory over Oakland. Over the two games, McCray averaged 16 points, 13 rebounds and one steal per contest.
The standout freshman is now up to 10 double-doubles on the year, and she has posted six of them over her last seven games played.
McCray continues to lead the Horizon in rebounding (10.8 boards per game), is third in field goal percentage (.527), sixth in scoring (14.4 points per contest) and eighth in made field goals (117).
She also continues to be all over the national leaderboard as McCray is eighth in all of NCAA Division I basketball in offensive boards per game (4.6), 13th in rebounds per contest (10.8), 15th in total rebounds (227) and tied for 25th in double-doubles.
The Norse, fresh off their two-game winning streak, will head to Green Bay for a showdown with the Phoenix on Thursday, February 8. Tip is set for 8 PM ET and the contest can be seen nationwide on ESPN+.
