HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Northern Kentucky men's golf team opened its season in the mountains on Monday and Tuesday, as the Norse competed in Marshall's Joe Feaganes Invitational at Guyan Country Club.
Northern Kentucky finished the tournament in seventh place as a team at two over par. NKU shot one under in each of the first two rounds.
Zach Beard led NKU in the 54-hole event finishing T-6th at -5 for the tournament. Beard shot a 68 in the first round, a 71 in the second round and a 69 in the final round for 54-hole score of 208. Beard's first round 68 tied his low round from 2023-24.
Luke Muller finished the tournament in 14th with a 211 total (72-67-72), shooting -3, while
Justin Gabbard finished 35th.
Isaac Moody (+6, 39th) and
Evan Stewart (+7, 49th) competed for the Norse as well.
Micah Bertram competed as an individual, finishing +9 for the tournament. Bertram shot a 71 in the tournament's final round.
A quick turnaround awaits the Norse this weekend, as NKU travels to Rochester, Michigan, where Horizon League rival Oakland is set to host the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate.
