Men’s Golf grabs sixth-place finish at Tom Tontimonia Invitational

WESTLAKE, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University Norse men's golf traveled up to Cleveland on Monday & Tuesday for the Tom Tontimonia Invitational, held at Lakewood Country Club in Westlake. The Norse notched their best finish of the fall season, finishing +19 as a team, while Zack Beard led the way with a top-ten finish. 



Beard put together three solid rounds over two days, going 71-73-70 at the 71-par course. It marks the first time this fall any Norse has finished inside the top ten, as Beard finished tied for eighth, shooting one over par at the tournament. Overall, Beard tallied 11 birdies, including five in round one. 

Among scoring players, Mason Butler finished second among the Norse with a +6 total score, finishing tied for 31st with six birdies. Behind Butler were Brady Holmes (+8, 43rd), Isaac Moody (+11, 52nd), and Grant Broughton (+12, 59th). 

Among independents, Xander Tucker, Micah Bertram, and Michael Long all had solid performances. Tucker finished tied for 15th with a +3 overall, including a two-under second round. Bertram finished +4 at the tournament with a scorecard of 75-67-75. His four-under second round tied for the highest score of any golfer at the tournament. Bertram racked up five birdies in round two and eight overall on the week, leading to a T-20 finish. Michael Long finished just one stroke under Bertram, as he finished tied for 23rd overall with six birdies.

NKU wraps up the fall season later in the month at the Xavier Invitational, on October 20th & 21st.
