Lucy Cluxton named to #HLVB All-Academic Team, Risley earns honorable mention

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2025 Valeo #HLVB All-Academic Team on Monday, with two Norse, Lucy Cluxton and Allison Risley, earning honors for their work in the classroom and on the court. 

"Academics are a major priority for our program and student-athletes," said head coach Liz Hart. "We are proud that Lucy and Allison are receiving recognition for their hard work in the classroom."

Cluxton, a graduate defensive specialist from Cincinnati, Ohio, earned a spot on the All-Academic team for the second straight year, marking the first time any Norse has appeared on the list in back-to-back seasons since current Norse assistant coach Miranda Wucherer did it in 2021. 

Now in her fifth year at Northern Kentucky, Cluxton has achieved remarkable results in the classroom, posting a 3.917 GPA as an undergraduate and graduating Summa Cum Laude. In undergraduate studies, Cluxton was a five-time selection to the President's Honor's List and a three-time selection to the dean's list. On the court, Cluxton has been one of the top players in the Horizon League, ranking fourth in digs/set in the Horizon League with a mark of 4.54 and second in total service aces with 37.

Allison Risley, a sophomore from St. Louis, Missouri, earned honorable mention on the All-Academic team in her first year of eligibility, as first-year players are not eligible for the distinction. An exercise science major, Risley earned spots on the dean's list in her first two semesters with the Norse and has been one of the league's top players in 2025, leading the league in aces with 27 in conference play, ranking inside the top five in kills and points, and inside the top 20 in hitting percentage and digs.

Northern Kentucky hosts the Horizon League Volleyball Championship at Truist Arena from November 21-23. The Norse will first compete in Saturday's semifinal at 3 PM, taking on the worst-remaining seed. Get your tickets today.
