HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University has officially announced the fall 2025 competition schedules for its men's and women's triathlon programs, featuring a slate of challenging races across the Midwest and beyond. Both squads will face strong competitions as they prepare for the postseason.
"I'm excited to start year two of our program with both programs doubling in roster size," said Triathlon Head Coach Brooks Doughtie. "Our women are going to be led by returner
Alisha Detmer who won the C wave at last year's national championships and include seven freshman."
"We start off with the sprint triathlon at Geist Sprint Triathlon where I'm excited to get everyone some race experience. Excited to see what we can do at the East Regional championship this year and see how many athletes we can get qualified for the women's national championship."
The women's season opens on Sunday, August 31 at the Geist Sprint Triathlon in Fishers, Indiana. NKU will then head north to Angola, Indiana, for the Trine Splash & Dash on Thursday, September 18, before traveling to Clinton Lake, Illinois, for back-to-back races – the Millikin Splash & Dash on Friday, October 3, and the Prairie State Collegiate Cup on Saturday, October 4. The Norse close the regular season with the East Regional at Lake Norman, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 25. Postseason action will culminate with the Women's Triathlon National Championship in Tempe, Arizona, on Saturday, November 8.
On the men's side, NKU will open competition on Sunday, September 14 at the Zoom RedHawks Sprint Triathlon in Oxford, Ohio, followed by the METCT Championships in Monticello, Indiana, on Sunday, September 28.
NKU's men's triathlon program has a short fall season, but Doughtie showed excitement for the upcoming year, saying "Our men have a strong recruiting class of very talented new student athletes combined with the return of the Fred and
Johannes Smal, I think they can put themselves in a good position to compete for a MECTC conference championship. Our fall season is a quick 5 weeks finishing with conference championships at Purdue, so we are excited to get training started as a group!"
