Jake Paulick earns second #HLBASE Batter of the Week Award

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse catcher Jake Paulick earned weekly conference honors for the second time this season, the Horizon League announced on Monday. Paulick put together a fantastic weekend at the plate and set a new career-high for hits in a single contest.

"Congratulations to Jake! His hard work and dedication to his craft and teammates continue to pay off," said Norse head coach Dizzy Peyton. "This is a nice recognition and reminder that hard work pays off."

At the plate this week, the redshirt junior batted 8-14 with six RBI, three runs, a homer, and a walk. Paulick slashed .571/.625/.786, posting a 1.411 weekly OPS in three games against Oakland. The Centerville, Ohio native was key in NKU's series-clinching victory over the Golden Grizzlies, going 3-6 from the plate in NKU's Saturday winner. His best individual performance came in the series finale, though, as he went for a career-best four hits, finishing 4-5 from the plate with a home run and four RBI.

This season, Paulick's been one of the best hitters in the Horizon League, posting a .500 on-base percentage (first in Horizon), 1.109 OPS (second), .609 slugging percentage (second), five home runs (second), 20 RBI (second), 16 walks (second),.348 batting average (third), and 42 total bases (third).

Paulick and the Norse head to Bellarmine on Tuesday before hosting Youngstown State for a weekend series.
