Trace Klausing earns MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Norse men's volleyball libero Trace Klausing earned MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, marking the first time any Norse has earned weekly conference honors.

"I am extremely proud to have Trace Klausing named as the first-ever MIVA defensive player of the week for the Northern Kentucky men's volleyball program," stated Norse head coach Jim Palilonis. "Trace has been an important and impactful member of our team not only with his play on the court but with his positive energy and attitude as well.
He takes advantage of every opportunity in practice and competition to work hard and improve at his position. I am happy for Trace to be recognized with this honor."

Klausing, a freshman from Van Wert, Ohio, played all eight sets as NKU's libero on the week. He led the Norse to a thrilling five-set victory over Queens on Thursday, which marked NKU's first-ever conference victory. On Friday, Klausing posted 12 digs and two assists in a three-set sweep of the Royals, helping move the Norse into eighth place in the conference. On the week, Klausing posted 20 total digs, which led all NKU players. His 12 digs in the second match of the week marked a new career high.

Klausing and the Norse return to the court on Thursday, taking on Ball State at 7 PM in Muncie.
