Marcus Harrison named #HLBASE Batter of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Northern Kentucky University Norse baseball infielder Marcus Harrison earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors after leading the Norse to a 4-0 week, the league announced on Monday. Harrison hit over .500 and slugged over 1.000 in one of the best weeks of his collegiate career.

"I'm so proud of Marcus," said Norse head coach Dizzy Peyton. "He has put in so much hard work and time to grow as a young man! He has done a great job of improving himself on and off the field. He is a great teammate and leader in our baseball family! This is a nice nod to recognize his growth as a ball player."

Harrison posted a .563 batting average, a .667 on-base percentage, and a 1.125 slugging percentage with three doubles, two home runs, 11 runs batted in, nine runs scored, and three stolen bases over four games. The redshirt senior recorded a pair of three-hit games, including a 3-5 effort with seven total bases, five RBI, and five runs in Northern Kentucky's record-breaking 30-9 win over Oakland on Friday. He also batted 3-5 with two doubles in a 9-3 win over the Golden Grizzlies on Sunday. Harrison ranked top-50 in the nation on the week in hits, doubles, average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, stolen bases, and total bases, while ranking seventh in runs scored and fifth nationally in RBI.

Harrison and the Norse return to action on Tuesday to take on Eastern Kentucky at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
