Women’s Golf Tied-Eighth After Day One of Dayton Flyer Invite

Ryleigh Waltz and Allison Leigeb each recorded 79's in the opening round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational to lead the Northern Kentucky women's golf team.

KETTERING, Ohio – Northern Kentucky University's women's golf team sits in a tie for eighth-place following the first round of competition in the Dayton Flyer Invitational, hosted on the 18-hole North Course at NCR Country Club.
 
The Norse posted a 321 (+41) to match IPFW's opening round. The total trails SIU Edwardsville by just one stroke and Chicago State by two.
 
Ryleigh Waltz carded a 79 to pace NKU's quintet. The score also puts her into a six-way tie for 24th with teammate Allison Leigeb, who is participating in the tournament as an individual.
 
Teammate Tara Clark lies one stroke behind Waltz and Leigeb. Clark is tied for 30th.
 
A trio of Norse, Sarah Kellam, Kennedy Windlan and MacKenzie Laumann, notched identical 81's (+11) and are tied-38th. Kellam and Windlan's scores counted towards the overall team score, while Laumann is competing as an individual.
 
Molly Arnold closed NKU's team scoring with an 83 (t-56th).
 
The final 18 holes for the 16-team field will start at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
