Final ResultsKETTERING, Ohio – A total team effort helped Northern Kentucky's women's golf team move up three spots in the final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational to earn a fifth-place finish.
The Norse combined to shoot a final-round 312, the fourth-best total of the day. NKU sat in a tie for eighth after the opening 18 on Monday, but jumped Evansville, Chicago State and SIU Edwardsville while pulling ahead of IPFW.
NKU's two-day total of 633 matched its season-best score from Ball State's Cardinal Classic. The fifth-place showing in the 15-team field was the team's best of the fall season.
Ryleigh Waltz led the charge for Northern Kentucky, carding rounds of 79-77 to finish at 16-over and earn a share of 13
th overall.
Waltz's teammates
Tara Clark (t-21
st) and
Kennedy Windlan (t-24
th) followed suit, finishing at 17- and 18-over, respectively. Both Clark and Windlan joined Waltz with final round scores of 77.
Sarah Kellam posted her second-straight round of 81 to close the tournament at 22-over par. NKU's stroke-leader on the season finished tied-40
th.
NKU's five-woman team also included
Molly Arnold, who carded consecutive rounds of 83 to tie for 58
th.
Allison Leigeb led the charge for the individual Norse golfers. Leigeb finished t-52
nd with rounds of 79-86.
MacKenzie Laumann followed Monday's 81 with an 88 over the final 18 holes. Laumann's efforts earned a share of 69
th.
