Sarah Kellam shot a one-over 73 and
Kennedy Windlan nearly kept pace with a two-over 74 as the two Northern Kentucky women's golfers hold the top two spots and have the Norse sitting in second at the Charles Braun Jr. Intercollegiate hosted by Evansville.
NKU is just three-strokes off the lead, trailing an Indiana State team that posted a 310 for the opening round. Butler trails Northern Kentucky by two strokes.
The 313 in Monday's round comes on the heels of a season-best tying 312 in the final round of the Dayton Flyers Invitational that was registered last Tuesday, propelling the Norse up the leaderboard and into fifth place of the tournament.
Kellam and Windlan sit first and second atop the individual leaderboard, besting the other 88 golfers in the tournament.

Allison Leigeb share 35
th after carding opening round scores of 83.
Ryleigh Waltz rounds out the team competitors for NKU. The sophomore recorded an 85.
Competing as individuals,
Allisa Davis and
Taylor Wogenstahl posted scores of 80 and 87, respectively. Davis sits tied for 23
rd, while Wogenstahl lies in a tie for 56
th.
The final 18 holes are scheduled for a 10 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday morning.
