NKU Women’s Golf Sits Ninth In Cardinal Classic

Ryleigh Waltz carded a 6-over to help NKU close out day one of the Cardinal Classic in a tie for ninth place.

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Northern Kentucky women's golf team posted a +33 (321) on day one of the Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State to close the day in a tie for ninth-place.
 
Ryleigh Waltz led a trio of Norse with scores of 6-, 7- and 9-over par. Waltz posted three birdies on the afternoon en route to a 78 and tie for 26thSarah Kellam followed closely, sitting tied-33 with a 79 on day one. Closing out the top three players for NKU is Kennedy Windlan, who posted an 81 on her home course to win up tied-49th.
 
MacKenzie Laumann shot an 11-over par 83 (t-60th) to wrap up the scorers for the Norse, and Tara Clark posted an 85 (+13).
 
Playing as NKU's lone individual in the tournament Taylor Wogenstahl matched Clark's score and is tied-74th.
 
Eastern Michigan leads the tournament after shooting 298 (+10) as a team. Ball State's Meghan McDougall carded a 3-under to top the leaderboard.
 
The final round starts at 9 a.m., Tuesday morning with a shotgun start. Northern Kentucky played themselves into group No. 3 and will pair with Grand Valley State and Bowling Green.
