Final ResultsYORKTOWN, Ind. – Northern Kentucky's women's golf team shaved nine strokes from its round-one total to climb up one spot into a tie for eighth place as the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State, came to a close on Tuesday afternoon.
The Norse shot a 312 on day two, besting its first round 321, to wrap up the tournament in a tie for eighth with IPFW. The two teams finished +57.
Sarah Kellam paced NKU with a two-day total of 154 (79-75, +10), earning a share of 22
nd overall.
A trio of Norse posted matching totals of 161 (+17) to finish tied for 50
th.
Ryleigh Waltz carded rounds of 78-83, while
Kennedy Windlan put up scores of 81-80. Teammate
Taylor Wogenstahl, who competed as an individual, followed an opening round score of 85 on Monday with a mark of 76 Tuesday.
MacKenzie Laumann posted marks of 83-79 for a two-day total of 162 (+18). She finished in a pack of eight golfers tied for 57
th.
Tara Clark also improved on her Monday round, shaving seven strokes from her round one score to card a 78 and finish tied for 65
th (+19).
Eastern Michigan used an eagle from Kylie Raines to take the team title on the first playoff hole against Western Michigan. However, WMU's Chloe Lawrie took the individual crown with a two-round total of 1-over par.
The Norse will be back in action for the three-day Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Alabama, starting on Sunday, Sept. 28.
