Ryleigh Waltz has the sophomore sitting in the top ten of the individual leaderboard and the Northern Kentucky women's golf team in 12
th place in the team competition of the FGCU Eagle Invitational following the first day of action.
Waltz had a steady day in which she carded one birdie, a bogey and one triple bogey to go along with 15 pars. With two rounds left to play, Waltz sits in a five-woman logjam in eighth place.
Sarah Kellam carded the other Norse birdie among the quintet competing in the team competition. Kellam sank the birdie on hole No. 3, but settled for an 11-over round and is tied for 49
th.
NKU's other two scoring rounds in the team total were recorded by
Allisa Davis and
Allison Leigeb, who posted rounds of 87 and 93, respectively, on the 6,135-yard Stonybrook Golf Club.
Individually,
MacKenzie Laumann matched Kellam's 83 and also shares 49
th. Laumann also found a birdie for the Norse on the par-5 ninth.
Shelby Power converted consecutive birdies on holes No. 18 and No. 1 as she made the turn before closing the day at 12-over and tied-60
th.
