PRIMM, Nev. – The Northern Kentucky University women's golf team wrapped up the Jackrabbit Invitational in dramatic fashion, smashing the school's 54-hole record by 34 strokes.
NKU followed opening round scores of 309 and 302 with a 310 on the final day, marking a 57-over-par 921 total. The previous school record was set at last season's Atlantic Sun Championship, where the Norse combined to shoot 955 (+91).
A 1-over 73 from
Kennedy Windlan in the final round led Northern Kentucky on Tuesday. Windlan finished the tournament at 9-over (225) and tied for 20
th.
Sarah Kellam,
Ryleigh Waltz and
Taylor Wogenstahl each carded rounds of 79 to help the Norse eclipse the program record. Kellam tied for 30
th at 13-over, while Waltz (+17) and Wogenstahl (+20) finished tied for 41
st and 44
th, respectively.
Kristen Smith rounded out NKU's five-women team, notching an 82, and earned a share of 46
th.
As individuals,
Allison Leigeb closed the tournament tied for 39
th at 16-over (232),
Tara Clark shared 57
th at 29-over-par (245) and
MacKenzie Laumann came in a tie for 60
th four strokes behind Clark.
Oral Roberts claimed the team competition at 8-over par, topping host-school South Dakota State by four strokes. NKU finished eighth.
Charlotte Jaengkit from Grand Canyon and South Dakota's Brenna Lervick shared individualists honors at 4-under-par.
Northern Kentucky has nearly a two-week layoff between rounds, when it heads to Richmond, Kentucky, for the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky on April 3-4.
