@NKUNorseXCTF eyes Horizon League Indoor Championships

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.- The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field teams will bring the indoor regular season to a crescendo at the 2018 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The meet will be hosted once again by Youngstown State University.  The meet will be broadcast on ESPN3 with streaming available on computers, tablets, smart phones and streaming devices through WatchESPN and the ESPN App. Saturday's broadcast will begin at 3:20 p.m. with Sunday's broadcast starting at 12:55 p.m.
 
The meet
  • The action will take place at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) on the campus of Youngstown State University.
  • Saturday's competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. with multi-events, followed by field events at 12 p.m. and track events at 2:30 p.m.
  • Sunday's action will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the completion of the multi-events, with remaining field events and track events beginning at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively.
 
Last year at the Horizon League Indoor Championships
  • At the 2017 Horizon League Championships the men's team placed sixth overall with the women tallying a fourth-place finish.
  • Andrew Schille and Tristian Tapia highlighted the men's efforts. Schille took silver in the mile and bronze in the 5,000m. Tapia clamed silver in the 800m.
  • For the women, BriAuna Keys, Ashley Brown and Erin Sherrer found the podium. Keys took bronze in the 400m. Brown collected silver in the shot put. Sherrer grabbed silver in the weight throw.
 
Up next for the Norse
  • Following the Horizon League Indoor Championships, both the men's and women's squad will take a break from competition as they prepare for the start of the outdoor track and field season set to begin at the Stan Lyions Invitational hosted by Butler University March 16-17.
