@NKUNorseXCTF wraps up outdoor regular season in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's track and field programs concluded the outdoor regular season competing at both the Jesse Owens Classic, hosted by The Ohio State University, and at the Mount Saint Joseph Spring Invitational. 

"With the Norse competing on two fronts this weekend and getting later in the season, we saw a couple of NKU records and anther round of solid PR's," said head coach Steve Kruse.

"Congratulations to all that saw their marks drop as the mercury rose. Megan Sullivan lowered her own NKU record in the 400m hurdles and climbs to a rank of fourth in the Horizon League on Friday and our 4x100m team comprised of Andrea Armstrong, Lynsey Shipley, Jailyn Ross and Emily Phillips also broke their own NKU mark again at OSU!"
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
  • Megan Sullivan posted a phenomenal day at the Jesse Owens Classic with a seventh place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Sullivan's time of 62.29 bested her previous of 62.61 in the event, which led to her improving upon her own Northern Kentucky record. 
  • The 4x100-meter relay team of Andrea Armstrong, Lynsey Shipley, Jailyn Ross and Emily Phillips continued to impress with a time of 46.05 in the event. This mark saw them finish fourth overall, and broke their own Northern Kentucky record in the process.
  • Shipley and Armstrong each finished in the top ten of the 400-meter dash with Shipley placed seventh (55.91) and Armstrong in ninth (56.90). 
  • Julia Pohl turned in a top-tier performance in the high jump as she finished third overall with a mark of 5-feet 5 inches (1.65m). 
  • Maddie Frey went on to finished sixth overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase with an overall time of 11:28.91. 
  • Megan Cole recorded a top ten run in the 5000-meter event with a time of 17:45.75 on the day. 

MEN'S RESULTS
  • Liam Ehrman had himself a solid run in the 400-meter dash with a ninth place finish at 50.56. Ehrman's time in the event was a PR for him as well. Ehrman also ran in the 200-meter dash, posting a time of 23.14 for a 32nd place finish. 
  • Cody Chism posted a personal best in the 800-meter with a time of 1:54.81 and went on to place 16th overall.
  • Owen Matthews saw a PR in the 5000-meter run with an overall time of 15:07.05 and finished 29th as well. 
     

UP NEXT
  • Northern Kentucky track and field will now look ahead to the Horizon League Outdoor Championships which is set to run from Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8. The 2022 Horizon League Outdoor Championships will be hosted by Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan as well.
