HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University Athletics is creating leaders on the field of play, in the classroom and in the community, and its excellence in academic endeavors has continued as the Norse recorded a school record for highest GPA in athletics history.
For the 2022 Fall semester, NKU student-athletes achieved a 3.49 department-wide GPA. It was the 23rd straight semester of a department GPA of 3.0 or higher and the 17th consecutive semester featuring a department GPA of 3.2 or higher.
The 3.49 department-wide GPA was the highest posted by NKU Athletics in school history. It was also the 11th straight semester in which NKU student-athletes finishes with a GPA of 3.37 or higher.

"Semester after semester, and year after year, Norse student-athletes go above and beyond in the classroom, and to set a NKU Athletics record this semester with a 3.49 department GPA just goes to the testament of their hard work both on their field of play, in the classroom and in the community. The men's soccer (3.59 GPA), baseball (3.52) and women's golf (3.77) teams also set new program records for best GPA in a semester in school history. Eight programs overall achieved a GPA of 3.52 or higher (women's tennis – 3.81, women's golf – 3.77, softball – 3.64, women's cross country – 3.63, women's soccer – 3.63, men's soccer – 3.59, baseball – 3.52 and volleyball – 3.52).
In total, NKU had 23 student-athletes receive President' Honors and another 88 earn Dean's List distinction. 27 student-athletes finished with a perfect 4.0 in the Fall semester, with another 192 finishing with a GPA between 3.00-3.99.
Overall, 89.03 percent of NKU student-athletes recorded a 3.0 GPA or higher during the Fall 2022 semester.
