Women’s Soccer earns six #HLWSOC All-League Selections

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced its women's soccer all-league teams and individual award winners on Friday, with Northern Kentucky earning six all-league selections, including three on the first team and three on the second team.

"To have 6 players earn All-League recognition is a huge reflection of the standard that we set," said Norse head coach Bob Sheehan. "These are the direct result of relentless dedication in training and an unwavering commitment to excellence, day in and day out. These 6 student-athletes have certainly earned these honors."

Midfielder Meghan Belrose earned a spot on the All-League First Team, after a phenomenal senior season where she recorded six assists, tied for third in the Horizon League. The St. Louis native recorded a season-high two assists against Robert Morris on October 4, a 4-0 win for the Norse. Belrose scored her lone goal of the season against Milwaukee on September 28, a beautiful curling shot off the post.

Senior defender Alyssa Carnes was recognized as one of the Horizon League's best, as she was also selected to the All-League First Team. Carnes was the backbone of the Horizon League's best scoring defense, as the Norse allowed only .72 goals per game in the 2025 regular season. The Troy, Michigan native led the Norse in minutes played, starting all 18 games and playing 1,558 minutes.

Graduate forward Lilly Yordy, NKU's points leader in 2025, was the third and final Norse represented on the Horizon League's First Team. Scoring seven goals and setting up eight, her 22 points were the most by a Norse player in a single season since Shawna Zaken's 2019 campaign. Yordy recorded four matches with multiple goal contributions, including three games with three or more. She was awarded the Horizon League's Offensive Player of the Week award twice this season.

The Horizon League's leading goal scorer, Erykah Cornett, earned a spot on the All-League Second Team following a remarkable junior season. Cornett netted nine goals on the season in just 16 games played, which was the most in a single season for any Norse since the aforementioned Zaken in 2019. She ended the season on a high note, scoring a pair of goals in Wednesday's two-two draw at Wright State. Despite leading the team in goals, she was tied for fourth in shot attempts among Norse players.

Senior goalkeeper Megan Gessner proved to be one of the Horizon League's best in 2025, earning a spot on the All-League Second Team. She led the league with seven shutouts, an .833 save percentage, and a .754 goals against average, all of those also ranking inside the top 50 in the country. Gessner helped lead the Horizon League's best defense to a second-place finish in the league.

Carnes' partner in the back two, Sophia Kapszukiewicz, was Northern Kentucky's final selection, earning a spot on the All-League Second Team. The Loveland, Ohio native finishes second on the team in minutes played with 1,556, and scored one goal and recorded two assists. A constant threat on long throw-ins, the junior helped set up multiple goal opportunities for NKU throughout the season.
